Operations encompass all the activities (systems, procedures, processes, policies) you undertake to provide your product or service in support of your strategic goals. Your entire infrastructure, from customer service to shipping is involved to transform inputs (labor, materials, proprietary information) into outputs (goods, services, value added products…) that balance revenue with delivering maximum value to the customer.

To provide the best value to your customers it is important that everyone in your organization remember that we are striving to delight our customers even if we don’t experience face-to-face interaction with them.

Operations is the most zen of the three business activities because it involves EVERYTHING that is not Management or Marketing.
